New Ubuntu image with HW accelerated H.264 in 1080P

The engineering team has been hard at work developing and implementing major fixes to the gstreamer framework on the Cotton Candy.

Huge efforts has been made to have hardware accelerated playback of H.264 content on the Cotton Candy.

To test fullscreen gstreamer playback of H.264 content test in terminal “gst-play-1.o h264file”. Sample files are the files from in the H.264 category.

Is there an ETA for the bluetooth fix? (I am using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so I can’t update to the latest version)

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Can you put the download in a torrent file please? I tried 3 times and the connection reset or broke or downloads very slow…

    Thanks in advance

We are currently working on making a smaller downloadable image.
This is in the pipeline to reduce the size of the image. You should expect a smaller image sometime this spring.

      Hi Nikita,

We have updated the zipfile, and should fix your CRC issues.
The zipfile is now created on a Linux machine and should not contain any MacOS specific files.

  6. Are you sure you fixed the download? I’ve tried twice already and it still says that it’s corrupted, in Winrar at least. Native windows extraction says I need an additional 734 Petabytes in order to extract… lol
Winrar complains about the corruption but extracts a 7,761,920 KB image file, and I want to be sure that it isn’t a bad copy before I go ahead and overwrite my installation. Does this size sound about right?

Also, you mentioned something about unlocking the full 1 GB of memory, and I was wondering if I should be looking forward to an increase in system performance because of that (Like load times for programs and such).

    -Thanks, David

      Hi David,

The md5sum of the file is 7fcd7485644fd4afb3f9b8ea8ec1d0ef cc_ubuntu_2014_01_28.img
      File is 7948206080 bytes.

The 1GB of memory should improve somewhat the performance, but a part from that you would not notice any difference.
